Magnetic sheeting normally available in 620mm x 50 metre rolls. It has a brown backing with a white surface to apply lettering or th screen print directly onto it. The sheet has a pull force of 40g/cm2 which is the recommended pull force for vehicle grade magnetic material.

The is also a 0.85mm at a 56g/cm2 the strongest vehicle grade magnetic sheet in the UK.

This grade of material is used to produce signs for taxis and general vehicle signs. Please be aware that there are thinner grade but are of poorer quality. It cane be screen printed and vinyl letters installed to give the client a perfect advertising tool for any vehicle.

The sheet can be cut to any shape with a sharp set of scissors or use a hobby knife. Most sheets are available in different colours, white, silver, green, red, blue and black. If your client has a specific colour then don’t panic, simply cover the whole sheet with a matching colour vinyl. Always apply the vinyl wet to eliminate bubbles.

Maybe you want to place a digitally printed image onto the sheet? No problem, just print directly onto vinyl then apply to the sheet.

The care and application of magnetic signs.

I would recommend that a standardised information sheet be issued to all clients that purchase magnetic signs from you. A set of simple guidelines with your business details on the bottom of the sheet, its a great way of providing that bit extra to the client.

Both the vehicle and the brown magnetic side of the sign should be clean & dry. Check all the edges for creases, cuts, lumps and bumps. If there are any of these in the sheet its really simple to rectify. Take a sheet of brown paper and a hot iron, lay the magnetic sign on an ironing board, now place the brown paper sheet over the sign, now apply the iron to where there are crease an bumps, iron them out until flat.

When the sign is not in use make sure you place on a flat surface, like a fridge door, filing cabinet or something flat and smooth.

Before placing the sign onto the vehicle, clean and polish the paintwork. Do the same with the brown side of the sign.

If the vehicle has been freshly painted then beware, the magnetic sign will stick o the paintwork and prove difficult to remove.

Remove the sign frequently to avoid the fragmentation of magnetic sheet. Also remove to allow natural sunlight to bleach the paintwork of the vehicle naturally and evenly.

Do not put magnetic signs onto the bonnet of vehicles because of both the heat of the engine and wind will catch the edge of the sheet and it will end up half way down the motorway!

Avoid applying to frozen, frosted, wet and hot vehicles.

Avoid leaving the signs in extreme sunlight for prolonged periods whilst on or off the vehicle.

Avoid speeds in excess of 70 miles per hour.

Remove the signs at least once a week.

Remove any road dirt or film before applying your sign.

Removed signs after rain, snow or sleet must be wiped clean with a dry clean cloth.

Only wash clean by using a mild detergent like washing up liquid.

Do not use cleaning fluids and solvents.

Do not lean any heavy objects against the sign whilst in storage.

During cold weather allow the sign to uncurl in a warm atmosphere before use.

Store at room temperature out of direct sunlight.

Obviously the magnetic signs will not work on non-steel vehicles.

The signs are not designed for use on mouldings and indentations in vehicle panels.

The best way to fit the magnetic signs allow the one edge of the sign to be lined up with the panel on the vehicle then just let the magnet do the work. If its not quite straight then just lift again and re-apply. Make sure that there are no air pockets under the sheet.

When thinking about a design for the client please consider rounded corners rather than sharp square edges.

This is an ideal form of advertising for all new and established businesses. Remember to add this to your details of services and products you can supply.

Try Ebay, local car hire companies, mobile hairdressers, the list goes on.

Only a few weeks ago I had an initial enquiry for 2 magnetics for a taxi company. I created some rough sketches with some ideas for shapes and sizes along with quotes. They ordered 4 sets the first week at an invoice total of £210.00 (cost to me was £67.00) The following week they placed an order for 38 pairs! That’s not the end of that little earner. The manager decided he wanted the business details on all the stationery, which he ordered through me.

Now, the phone rang a few days ago and he decided he doesn’t want the magnetics anymore, instead he wants to fit all 46 vehicles with vinyl lettering and a chequered stripe along the sides of each car.

He also formed a partnership with a local property developer so they have just relocated to the other side of town, yep, you guessed it they need new signs for the building and a business launch day, so, they asked me to handle all the advertising and promotion. New signs, leaflets, business cards, vehicle lettering and magnetics, just from one order of a pair of magnetic signs.

His property developer business partner is at the moment looking at new logos for the trucks, vans, diggers and numerous other vehicles he owns to be fitted with vinyl lettering and logos.

Banner advertisement is perhaps the oldest and most common mode of advertisement in the world wide web (www). In its simplest form – it acts like a billboard, spreading a promotional message and helping interested visitors to jump to relevant web-site.

Difference between a physical billboard and on-line banner advertisement lies in ability of the later to measure campaign effectiveness. Unlike traditional ad media like TV or print where measuring audience response is difficult – its possible to obtain clear and accurate measurements of success or failure of on-line ads through web traffic analysis.

How good is banner advertisement for your business ? Should you adopt this known and trusted method or go for new ones like search engine based PPC ? The answer lies in your requirement and an understanding of what banner advertisement can deliver.

Let us discuss various concepts associated with on-line advertisement and analyze how banner advertisement works.

What Kind of On-Line Advertisement Suits my Business ?

There are three major reasons for creating online advertising campaign. These are:

*Building brand awareness

*Increasing website traffic

*Creating leads and sales

You need to analyze your precise requirements and prioritize the objectives of planned ad campaign. If the objective is brand building or pure promotion – banner advertisement is ideally suited. However, if you are more keen on leads and sales – targeted advertisements such as search engine marketing could be better option. In many cases – a mix of banner ad and search engine marketing could be the answer. One can find more information on Internet advertisement, specially in the context of export import trade and b2b portals here .

Key Concepts Associated with On-Line Advertisement:

Before proceeding any further, it is important to understand a few key concepts associated with on-line advertisements in general and banner advertisement in particular.

Impression:

Impression is a measure of how many times an ad has been viewed. How many people have viewed a banner ad or received an “impression” by seeing the ad – is a measurement of responses from the ad delivery system. Once a visitor has viewed a banner on a web page – an impression is recorded. Banner views are different from page views in the sense that there may be multiple banner views within one page view. There’s another distinction between page
view and banner view – some banner serving software do not count a banner view unless the visitor stays on the page long enough for the banner to be fully downloaded from ad server.

CPM:

CPM refers to cost per thousand (M here stands for ‘Mille’ – the Roman numeral used to represent 1000). CPM is commonly used by the advertising industry to describe how many people have viewed the banner ad (ad view) or received an “impression” by seeing the ad. In other words, this is the price an advertiser pays for displaying his/her banner 1,000 times.

For example, an advertising rate of $10 CPM, means the advertiser is paying $10 for every 1,000 impressions, or $0.01 for each banner impression.

CTR or Click-Through:

When a visitor gets interested in promotional message of a banner, he/she clicks on it to learn more and is automatically transported to advertiser’s website. Every time someone clicks on the banner, it is called a “click- through,” and the “click-through rate” is expressed in terms of percentage of users who click on an advertisement (i.e. ratio of ad clicks to ad impressions). In other words, click through ratio is an indication of a banner’s effectiveness.

How Advertiser Pays for Banner Advertisement Universally, there are two modes of payment for banner ad – CPM

Click-Through:

In India – there’s a third mode of payment based on duration of time a banner is hosted on a web-site. Typically, special server-based software called ‘ad-server’ rotates banner ads in specified places of a web-site. It also keep track of impressions, click-thorough and other vital statistics.

In CPM mode of payment – advertiser pays for number of impressions based on an agreed CPM. For example, if a site charges US$ 9 per CPM – for $450 the advertiser gets $450 / $9 CPM *

1000 = 50,000 impressions

If percentage of click thorough is 2 – 4%, advertiser may expect ~ 1000 – 2000 new customers visiting his/her web-site. This is apart from brand building based on number of impressions.

In Click-Through mode – Advertisers pays a fixed fee for every click, no matter what is the number of impressions.

In time-based banner advertisements (typical in India), advertiser pays a fixed fee based on monthly or quarterly rate, irrespective of the number of impression or click-thorough.

Types of Banners Advertisements:

Traditional banner ads were static in nature – usually a .gif or .jpeg image file. With technology advancing – new modes of banner ads appeared in ad scene. Following are some of the popular modes of non-static banner ads
Expanding – Banner gets bigger on clicking – often have a button labeled “Expand”. Rather than jumping to another website – these banners simply open up and reveal more information.

Animated – Common mode of banner ad these days. However, too many images/messages may render such banners hopelessly large in size, slow and downright irritating. Exercise caution on banner design.

Drop-Down Menu – These have embedded HTML and allow the user to choose options from a drop-down menu. This mode of banner is ideal for co-op advertising where several businesses can advertise together.

Interstitial – These appear in a separate window as the website loads. These ads often contain large graphics, animation, and streaming presentations.

Java, Flash, and Shockwave – These allow for rich media presentation including video and audio. Common browser toolbars such as Alexa, Google etc. suppress this type of banners Floating Ads and DHTML – These banners float over the content a website and generally perceived as intrusive, although they do get a high click-through rate.

Unicast – These are just like little TV ads that run in a separate window.

Checklist for Banner Designers:

Here’s a few things to keep in mind while creating banner ad Make it smaller in size: preferably under 12K. This way – the banner will be quick to load.
Keep it Simple: Stay simple. Don’t get too complicated with heavy text and confusing colors.

Make it Easy-to-read:

Always use ALT tags for text display on those surfing without images Verify that the banner clicks-through to the appropriate page on your website Limit your use of animation Include a call to action (e.g. Order Now, Visit Web-Site etc.) Test your banners in different browsers at different screen resolutions.
Get your web designer to make your banner ads for you in a variety of standard sizes if you are not experienced in advertising.

Conclusion:

Lack of targeting and visitor apathy are two major drawbacks of banner ad campaigns. Because of large scale use or misuse – visitors today treat banners as necessary evil and pay little attention. Click through rate of banner ads are much lower compared to other forms of on-line advertisement such as targeted search engine marketing. However, banner ads are more effective in brand building and work very well when the creative is attractive and ad delivery systems can do some targeting.

Signs have been used in marketing for as long as most of can remember. There are a few simple keys to making a sign that will generate sales. Most of these factors are very simple but are often overlooked. Lets take a look at the three most critical factors in making a quality advertisement sign.

The most important aspect of creating and getting great marketing results from your sign has nothing to do with the sign itself. The first rule is simple. Location, Location, Location. Need I say it again. The greatest sign with the best copy in the world will do you little to no good if it is located in a poor traffic area. Find a place to post your sign where the most possible people can see it. Now that you have selected the location where there is a good amount of traffic you are off to step two. Make sure the sign is visible from many angles. Walk around the area and notice if any obstacles such as tree branches or buildings block the view of the sign. You should notice at this time if your advertisement needs to raised or lowered. The third step is to make sure the advertisement is facing towards the highest traffic area. These simple steps will allow you to maximize the results of the sign you created.

The Sign
When creating your sign the rules are very simple. The most common mistake made in creating advertisement signs is that people want to put to much information in a small space. This hurts your advertisement in two manners. One. People seeing your sign are moving. We live in a fast paced world where most people are not going to stop to take the time to read your advertisement. If you follow the rule of short and sweet it will help you avoid the next critical mistake in making your sign. Mistake number two is small text making the sign difficult to read. If you know you have a very limited amount of space to work with on a sign a simple catch phrase can be very powerful. Remember keep it short and simple.

Dynamics of Color
The color of signs has become a science. Many colors dictate action while others build trust. You may notice most fast food signs and logos use red and yellow. These colors create a call to action. It is good to use caution with these colors, overdone both of these colors signify caution. The colors of blue and green help nurture trust and confidence. Nothing states tradition and security like black and white.

When creating your sign try to follow the three basic principles of:
1.	Location
2.	Short and Simple
3.	A fitting Color Scheme

In this day and age of modern computers, ink jet printers and desktop publishing programs, I am still amazed to see that store owners put little effort in to producing quality signage for their stores. Signage is one of the most important ways to convey your message to your customers. Your store name, promotions, pricing, and product information may all be conveyed through signage. Are you getting these messages across effectively? As a customer walks by your store, you have about 3 seconds to let them know what they will find inside. What message are you sending? Professional signage will attract the customer, provide just the right amount of information and invite the customer to enter your store or try your product. Unprofessional signage is confusing to the customer and sends a negative message about your store and product. Common problems include ambiguous or misleading messages, spelling errors or signs that are difficult to read.

Effective signage has the following qualities:

QUALITY PRODUCTION You don’t have to spend big money to get signs that look professional. Having said that, you still need to be willing to spend a few rupees to create the image that you want to represent your business. Consider the lifespan of the sign. Exterior signage that needs to last several years requires a fairly large investment. The shorter the lifespan of the sign, the less it should cost. If you are running a small boutique, producing your own short term promotional or informational signage is perfectly acceptable, provided you have the tools and skills to do it well. If you are producing signs on your own, they should be produced on a computer, not handwritten. This might seem too obvious to mention, but I still see stores using signs that have been written in black felt marker. Use a desktop publishing or word processing program and quality printer and paper. If your printer and paper are not good quality, take your computer file to a print shop to produce your image. Mount your final images on a heavy card.

SIMPLE COLOR SCHEME Don’t go crazy with color. Pick a simple, two or three color scheme and stick with it throughout the store. Pick a background color, text color and highlight color. Make sure that the colors have enough contrast to be easily read. Red on black, while a dynamic and high power combination, does not have enough contrast to be easily viewed. However, if the text is very large, bold and only one or two short words, you might be able to get away with it. Outlining the text with a thin white line will also improve the contrast. Also be careful with combinations such as yellow/green or orange/pink/red or green/blue. These combinations can be powerful and trendy, but require more work with design to make them legible. Strong contrasts such as red/white or white/blue increase visibility and legibility.

EASY TO READ Make your signage easy to read. Don’t try to put too much on one sign. Some signs are so full of tiny images, starbursts, exclamation marks, and small print, that you can’t take it all in. One main image, a headline and a few bullet points are all you need on an informational sign. A sign in a store window should be even simpler. You need to get your message across immediately as the customer walks, or drives by. This means you can only use a strong image on your sign, a headline, or a simple combination of both. Some stores only use one word, such as ‘SALE’ or ‘EID SALE’ in the window, and provide more information inside the store. The more time the customer will be spending looking at the sign, the more information you can include. For example, a sign near your cash register, where your customer will be waiting for a transaction to be processed, can provide details of a contest or return policy.

CLEAR, SIMPLE MESSAGE Keep your message simple. Avoid trying to say too much. Choose one main message that you want to convey. Do you want to tell about a sale, a price, product info, return policy? Rather than say this all at once, try a sale sign on the top of the rack, price and product info on the tag, and return policy at the cash register. When you craft your sign, write down the message you want to get across, then rewrite it in as few words as possible. Keep reducing until you have one to five words for your headline. If necessary, write a small amount of supporting information below.

WELL PLACED Be careful where you place your signage. Place it where it will catch your customers’ attention, but will not block essential elements of your store. Think about how customers approach your store. If customers walk by your store, but your store name is only placed high up on your store front, facing the street, how will they see it? You also need to repeat the name on the door or window. Make sure signs don’t block traffic flow, displays, or the view of the interior of your store. Check for reflections on the window that make your interior signage invisible during the day. You’ll need to check this at various times of the day to find out what happens to the light and reflections depending on the position of the sun. You can improve the visibility of your signage by improving the display lighting inside, and by using light colors in your windows. Light colored signage will stand out, while dark colors will recede and virtually disappear behind reflections on the glass. After placing your signs, double check how they look from a customer’s point of view. Step back and approach the store as a visitor. Walk from front to back and look at all your signage critically and reposition as necessary.

SIMPLIFY, SIMPLIFY, SIMPLIFY The simpler you keep your signage the better. Reduce visual clutter, and focus on getting your most important message across to your customer. You will attract more walk-by traffic, and avoid confusing your customer. Your sales should increase as a result.

A lot of things about opening a business are difficult, but you never really realize how hard advertising new business is until you try it yourself. Don’t get me wrong – there are many simple techniques for business advertising. The problem is that not all of them work. We live in a pretty small town, so we thought that we would do it in a pretty low-key way. I was opening a new restaurant downtown, and I figured that enough people would see it whenever passing by to scare up some customers. Just to be sure, we painted a big sign in front of the place, had a sort of grand opening ceremony, and even put up an ad in the newspaper.

The turnout, I am sad to say, was dismal. I knew that it would be an uphill battle to start a restaurant, but I didn’t realize how bad it would be. For the first week or two, almost no one went in there. Then we got smart about business advertising.

Being smart about business advertisements doesn’t always mean the same thing to different businesses. I have a cousin who is involved in business online, and he has to use some pretty sophisticated tricks. For him, it is all about maximizing Google hits and improving search results. He uses keyword lists, business articles, and links to popular websites as a way to promote his own business ventures. In my case, however, we do need to bother with that kind of high-tech business advertising. We are a local business, after all. People out here don’t really use the Internet that much – at least for dining.

No, the key was to maximize outdoor exposure. That meant buying a billboard on the highway, first of all. We live pretty near to the interstate, so it baffles me how I never thought of this business advertising technique until I had been in business for a month. Oh well, live and learn as they say. That billboard definitely got a lot of customers from out of town into the restaurant, but we also wanted a local clientele. To do that, we invested in some snazzy neon signs. My brother is a designer, and he was able to hook me up with a good deal on business signs. We also handed out coupons at the local grocers, good for one free meal. Although we lost a little bit of money in the short term doing this, in the long term it got us a lot of repeat customers.

When deciding between promotional options for your business, you have some tough choices to make. Do you want to put your name out on TV or the web, or do you think something simpler would be better? It may seem old-fashioned, but outdoor signs and displays cut to the chase with customers, letting them know about sales and specials. But how well do these really work? Finding out more about signs and displays like the Wind Waver is important before you opt for them as your strategy.

Making an Impression on Your Customer

One reason why you would want to invest in signs and displays is because of the driving around your potential customers do. When they are out and about, they aren’t looking at online or newspaper ads, but they do see those outdoor banners. And those banners are putting out messages that are easy to understand. If your company is having a sale, it’s hard to miss. If the customers on the road know about your store, it may prompt them to stop by later on their way back from work. One of the best things about banners, signs and displays like the Wind Waver for business is that customers haven’t become so bothered by them (like TV and online) that they ignore them. A good relationship is still there, so use it.

Why Signs Work

One of the benefits of a sign is its directness and how it puts the message on the top of a customers’ mind. When they see what you are selling, it will be hard for them to think of anything else. The effectiveness of your signs and unique outdoor displays should be measured by how they bring the message to the customer without being distracting. You want to put the thought in their mind to make a purchase decision and bring their business to your store. That’s why you should have big signs that carry a message that can seen from far off, so the customers have time to think about their decision and so they remember it after they’ve past by your store. You want a message that sticks.

A Great Return on Investment

Think just a bit about how much value you are getting out of your Denver outdoor event signs like the Wind Waver. For not much cost, you are getting out information about your business day and night; you are hitting hundreds or thousands of people depending on what the traffic is like outside your door and those people can tell others and so on and so on. There is much more of an impact from one sign than you may get from a more limited medium. And once you’ve bought a sign, you have it for years. If you have the same sale often during the year, you can use it over again. You get a long life, durability and a broad message, all from one sign.

When you are using signs, you’ve got to remember, your goal is to reach as many potential customers as possible and get them to buy into your message. For the investment you put in, you’re bound to be successful in reaching that goal.

Neon signs are basically a glowing glass tube filled with the gas neon, made it into various shapes, letters and signs. Its origin dates back to 1910, when the neon signs were first introduced by an industrial chemist named Georges Claude in the Paris Motor Show. It soon made its way into almost all industrial countries as businesses in all forms started to use it for promotional purposes and to make boards displaying the shop/business name. In its earlier form, neon signs were only available in hues of read. But, with the advances in chemistry, it was discovered that the color can be influenced by varying the gas mixtures filling the glass tubes. These days, apart from neon, other inert gases such as argon, krypton, xenon, and phosphor and helium are used to produce different colors.

Why neon signs became a hit in a very short span of time worldwide because of the fact that business wanted it badly to promote their purposes, mostly after dark hours, and it was quite cost effective as well unlike the electrically lit lights illuminating the boards. No wonder, businesses, selling fancy cars to beers to electronics goods these days uses neon signs, especially customized ones, to promote or advertise their products and shops.

But, despite the huge popularity and demand for neon signs all over the globe, the most interesting aspect relating to its making is that it is still a hand made vocation. In other words, neon signs are not made using any mechanical or automated means even today. Instead, it is still sort of handicraft, and the only mechanical device used in its making is a vacuum pump, that is used to suck out oxygen and fill it with the respective inert gases to give the desired color. Neon signs, these days, are available in over 150 colors.

There are many makers out there making and selling neon signs – customized and otherwise – at different rates. Customization involves making specific designs plus designing the electric circuitry as well that eventually lights it up. Neon signs are usually designed to flicker systematically or to go on and off in parts in order to catch the human eye. Detailed info on neon sign makers is available in the web. The same also could be fetched from yellow pages ad columns and news paper classifieds on weekends.

Regarding prices, it may vary from maker to maker and also according to the size and shape of the neon sign and the complexity of the electric circuitry design. But comparing the quotes from few players could help one to strike the best deal from the lot. Also, it is advisable to check if the maker offers warranty or extended warranty to the products. If there is any loose end in the electric connections or some issue with the circuit elements, a neon sign may well fail to turn on. So, service warranty is inevitable for neon signs.

To begin with, traffic signs or more commonly known as road signs, are those colorful signs usually erected alongside road networks to impart particular information to road users especially motorists. Since the ages of Roman dominance in Europe and beyond, pioneer road signs have been the key means of showing distance and directions to road users.

The middle ages saw an increased usage of these multidirectional signs especially placed at intersectional points as directions towards the major towns and cities. Conventional traffic signs however gained route in road transport soon after the advent of automobiles. Soon enough, at about 1895, an Italian Touring Club had devised the precursor to our modern-day traffic signs code system. Continued addition and regional standardization of the signs have seen a general semblance and acceptance of road signs as a universal system. But we are still far off a universal code.

The increased global immigration and human movement in recent years has seen most countries are now finding it necessary to harmonize their road signs to those that correspond to an unwritten universal code to adequately provide vital information to multinational users. The first move has been an attempt to present messages using predominantly pictorial signs that transverse language barrier. International citizens like frequent travelers are usually called these days will be able to drive in any country even with language barrier in place. Pictorial signs if universally adopted could go a long way in establishing a universal traffic signs. Pictorial traffic signs were first adopted in Europe and most countries around the world have followed suit.

Another key step is to simplify the street sign to a standard format. Basic traffic signs were first patterned in 1908 by the International Road Congress that took place in Rome. In 1909, nine governments in Europe had accepted to use the four pictorial symbols proposed by the Congress namely: bumps, curve, intersection and railroad crossing. By 1949 Europe had adopted a similar road signs system although US government defied to follow suit and designed their own system. An international system has however continued to develop, with North America, Africa, Asia and other key regions adopting international signs and symbols into their domestic systems especially since 1960.

Almost every store has seasonal promotions during the year. You can do a great deal of business during these periods, provided that you get your message out to your customers! A roll up banner is great for this purpose. Unlike traditional banners, a roll up banner is very easy to install, it comes with a base that holds the rolled up banner. Just pull up the banner to display and when not in use the banner can be retracted back into the base where it remains protected. Not only are these banner easy to display, but you can store them for the next year’s season when they can be reused, without worry about damage to the banner.

Various businesses can use the roll up banners for better sales. For instance the back to school season is a great time for those who deal in clothes, shoes, books and other school supplies. If you have a store that sells all this stuff, you can use roll up banners, to show that you have almost all school supplies and related products. You could use a pull up banner for each of the product categories and display the various discounts and combo offers that you are providing.

Now days, most businesses prefer to have their roll up banners made of vinyl. The fact is vinyl banners are very durable, and have strong color retention capabilities which makes sure the roll up banners not only last longer, but also maintain their sheen and attractiveness, season after season. There are different varieties of vinyl though and the price varies based on the quality. Your printer would be able to guide you on the best media to use for the pull up banner to suit your purpose. Not only are you able to make sure that your roll up banners are a good one time investment, you can also rely on the fact that they would deliver the best during their entire lifetime.

One more advantage with the roll up banners is that they are very easy to deploy. Since roll up banners are free standing they can be set up instantly. You need not worry about hanging these banners by tying the banners up to odd corners or damaging walls with nails or tape. Setting up your promotional display becomes a very easy task. You can set them in your store window, at the entrance to your store or anywhere in the store where it will attract customer attention. They are easily portable and usually come with a carry case so can be used anywhere.

If you are looking to get the perfect option for attractive in-store or entrance display of your seasonal offers roll up banners or pull up banners make perfect sense.
