Signs have been used in marketing for as long as most of can remember. There are a few simple keys to making a sign that will generate sales. Most of these factors are very simple but are often overlooked. Lets take a look at the three most critical factors in making a quality advertisement sign.
The most important aspect of creating and getting great marketing results from your sign has nothing to do with the sign itself. The first rule is simple. Location, Location, Location. Need I say it again. The greatest sign with the best copy in the world will do you little to no good if it is located in a poor traffic area. Find a place to post your sign where the most possible people can see it. Now that you have selected the location where there is a good amount of traffic you are off to step two. Make sure the sign is visible from many angles. Walk around the area and notice if any obstacles such as tree branches or buildings block the view of the sign. You should notice at this time if your advertisement needs to raised or lowered. The third step is to make sure the advertisement is facing towards the highest traffic area. These simple steps will allow you to maximize the results of the sign you created.
The Sign
When creating your sign the rules are very simple. The most common mistake made in creating advertisement signs is that people want to put to much information in a small space. This hurts your advertisement in two manners. One. People seeing your sign are moving. We live in a fast paced world where most people are not going to stop to take the time to read your advertisement. If you follow the rule of short and sweet it will help you avoid the next critical mistake in making your sign. Mistake number two is small text making the sign difficult to read. If you know you have a very limited amount of space to work with on a sign a simple catch phrase can be very powerful. Remember keep it short and simple.
Dynamics of Color
The color of signs has become a science. Many colors dictate action while others build trust. You may notice most fast food signs and logos use red and yellow. These colors create a call to action. It is good to use caution with these colors, overdone both of these colors signify caution. The colors of blue and green help nurture trust and confidence. Nothing states tradition and security like black and white.
When creating your sign try to follow the three basic principles of:
1. Location
2. Short and Simple
3. A fitting Color Scheme

Magnetic advertising signs, do they harm your car paint?I just pruchased a pair of magnetic signs to advertise my Real Estate Business on the doors of my vehicle. I have black paint, just wondering if there's any advice on the maintenance of these signs and the paint that's on my car.

ah yeah welcome to the world today someone gets a scratch or a cut that doesn’t even come close to being fatal or debilitating so they sue the person sheesh some people need to get a life. oh no!! I GOT A SCRATCH!! IMA SUE YOU FOR 99999999999 dollars buddy!!!! psht if that happened id punch em in the face and go ÿou can add assault to that charge aswell cunt.
but if you do it for long enough you would get very fit and your endurance would increase with experience im sure they take breaks or another comes out and takes over while the other rests.
They are light emitting, which means they give off photons.
I don't think they'll bother the paint if you alternate and drive your car without the signs in the sun as much as you o with them…the magnets will be less of an issue than shade…by the way, you are damn cute!
Print up business cards and leave them on the table at restarants,,,leave a bunch in the local post office, leave them everywhere you can think of…I do this and it works for me!
I've used outside house paint. I check with the hardware and paint stores and check their "oops" department and I can buy gallons for $1.00 to $4.00 if it's a good color I grab it and put into my stash of paints. I've used artist acrylics (cost more and I don't think they last any better) A good hard finish when finished. Prep time on the surface is very important.
The old time advertising artists used artist oils
When you are first starting it's hard to price things. You have cost of paints, brushes, cleaners, transportation, ladders, scaffoling, pain pills, insurance and helpers labor.
See if you can find someone locally who is doing this type of work and get a parttime job as a helper, you will learn lots from someone who has already worked out the "bugs"
You could call someone in your area a get a price for doing a particular size. See what the competition is charging.
When I price, there are lots of factors, location, how complicated is the design, is the customer providing the design, am I going to spend 20 hours working up a design, etc and even the personality of the purchaser. An you will lose money on the first few jobs.
I still like to make up a full size paper pattern then run a pounce wheel over the design so I can dust through the holes to get a sketch on the wall. I used a projector but for some ready just like using a pattern. Simple things, I just grab a pencil and lightly sketch directly onto the wall (I use a water soluable pencil so when I paint the drawing goes away.
I price by the square foot. A starting place is $100. square foot and it can be less with a simple design or more with a very complicated design. But that lets your customer know you plan to do a good job and you respect your work and so should they. I will not do a large wall job for less than $50 a square foot. unless they are wanting 2 polar bears in a snow storm.
lots of luck
lol this is a lawsuit waiting to happen……inexperienced spinner loses control and hits an innocent bystander in the face…..lawsuit then filed against the promotional company along with the company advertised….
okay… ill go that way???
Sign spinning is the worst fucking idea ever, no one can read your signs, what’s the point?
sign spinner.
That’s on corner of Colorado and Glendale Ave in Glendale! =P
Well it's like you said "I realize that each state, county, city, etc. has their own laws and ordinances". To get your answer you would have to contact the enforcement agencies of the area you are interested in.
Because when they do a fancy trick it catches peoples eyes more then a boring prick standing there leaning on one. Did you not notice they stopped moving every 2 seconds so people could read the sign. You dont know what your talking about so in future dont bother commenting.

what an excellent idea
argon
because the inert gas is not always "neon" ?
it can be any noble gas, or a combination of those. Neon or argon are the most common gases used; krypton, xenon, and helium are used by artists for special purposes but are not used alone in normal signs. A premixed combination of argon and helium is often used in lieu of pure argon when a tube is to be installed in a cold climate, since the helium increases voltage drop (and thus power dissipation), warming the tube to operating temperature faster. Neon glows bright red or reddish orange when lit. When argon or argon/helium is used, a tiny droplet of mercury is added. Argon by itself is very dim pale lavender when lit, but the droplet of mercury fills the tube with mercury vapor when sealed, which then emits ultraviolet light upon electrification. This ultraviolet emission allows finished argon/mercury tubes to glow with a variety of bright colors when the tube has been coated on the interior with ultraviolet-sensitive phosphors after being bent into shape. Plain argon/mercury fill in clear glass is used for a bright but pale blue (or bluish white) color often seen in signs where cost is a major factor.
